We are pleased to invite you to register for the upcoming Professional Development Fresh Produce Recall Workshop in association with The Fresh Produce Safety Centre A-NZ.

This 2.5 hour event will cover all you need to know about recalls, from the perspectives of the regulator (MPI), a retailer (Foodstuffs) and an enabler of track and trace (GS1). While we know that the best course of action is to prevent a recall in the first place, recalls inevitably happen. As food safety professionals, our task beyond prevention is to prepare, respond and recover and this workshop will provide the answers. There are global examples of recalls that have not been executed well, creating more reputational harm, legal costs, disposal costs, fines and lost market share. We must ensure that we are well prepared and minimise the damage should the worst happen.

The main outcome will be that participants understand what recall best practice looks like so they can meet internal, government and QA program requirements. According to Thomasin Bright from MPI, “When a food business needs to recall food, MPI's Food Compliance Services team will work with the business to provide advice, coordinate the recall and ensure that all reasonable steps are being taken to protect consumers. We will be discussing the roles and responsibilities of the food business and MPI in a recall and the steps for conducting a recall in New Zealand.” 

This event will be of interest to growers, QA Managers, food safety auditors/Certification Bodies, product technologists, trainers/consultants, food regulation team members, wholesale, retail & foodservice technical staff, students/academics and industry bodies.
